EULA / Terms of Use (Guideline 3.1.2)

Apps with auto-renewable subscriptions must show a functional Terms of Use (EULA) link on the App Store product page. In-app paywall links are not enough. Privacy Policy URL is a separate App Store Connect field and does not satisfy this.

Caluru currently uses Apple’s standard EULA in App Store Connect (License Agreement). For that path, Apple requires the standard EULA URL in the App Description for every localization.

Item Value
Apple standard EULA https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
Caluru custom terms (hosted) https://caluru.app/terms.html
Privacy Policy (ASC field + description) https://caluru.app/privacy.html

What to do in App Store Connect (no new binary)

  1. Open Apps → Caluru → the rejected version.
  2. Edit Description for Spanish (primary) and English. Paste the three URL lines from the copy above at the end. URLs must be full https:// links (not just the words “Terms of Use”).
  3. Keep Privacy Policy URL as https://caluru.app/privacy.html.
  4. Leave License Agreement as Apple’s Standard EULA unless you paste a custom EULA under App Information.
  5. Reply in Resolution Center (template below) and resubmit.

Optional extra (only if you want Apple to show your own license instead of Apple’s): App Information → License Agreement → Edit → Apply a Custom EULA, then paste the English text from https://caluru.app/terms.html. If you do this, keep the Description URLs anyway.

Resolution Center reply (English)

We use Apple’s standard Terms of Use (EULA). A functional EULA link is now in the App Description for all localizations:

https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

We also include our product terms and privacy policy:

https://caluru.app/terms.html

Age rating, Kids Category & COPPA (align with Privacy Policy §11)

Live policy: “Caluru is not directed at children under the age of 16.”
Terms: users must be at least 16. Onboarding blocks ages under 16 on Quick Basics.

ASC area Required answer / action Why
Kids Category / Made for Kids Do not select Made for Kids. Under Age Categories and Override, choose Not Applicable (unless overriding age — see below). App is not marketed to children; Kids Category is irreversible and would conflict with §11.
Primary / secondary category Use adult categories only (e.g. Health & Fitness / Food & Drink). Never set Kids as a category. Not a kids app.
Age Categories and Override After the questionnaire, choose Override to Higher Age Rating → 16+ if Apple’s calculated rating is lower than 16+. Privacy Policy §11 and Terms require 16+; Apple requires overriding when EULA/policy minimum exceeds the calculated rating.
App Privacy → “Is your app designed for kids / collect data from children?” (COPPA) Answer No — app is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16). Do not declare child-directed data collection. Matches Privacy Policy §11 and COPPA positioning.
Listing copy / keywords / screenshots Adult nutrition companion only. No “for kids”, “children”, school, or parenting-as-primary-audience framing. Not marketed as a kids app.

App Privacy nutrition labels (align with PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy + live policy)

Controller / seller: Centralized Operations Management LLC.
Third parties named in Privacy Policy §4 include Apple, Supabase, OpenAI, Open Food Facts, and RevenueCat.
Hosted policy must disclose Groups/Supabase progress sharing and AI health-adjacent context (§2.6, §4, §5) — reviewers compare policy ↔ behavior.

Apple’s “collected” = data transmitted off the device (or to a third party) in a way you/partners can access beyond real-time request servicing. On-device-only storage does not belong in ASC labels.

Match ASC App Privacy answers to the privacy manifest and hosted policy:

Data type (ASC) Collect? Linked to user? Used for tracking? Purposes Notes
Health & Fitness Yes Yes No App Functionality, Product Personalization Includes allergies / foods avoided (onboarding S13 + profile), nutrition logs, weight, goals/targets; Groups uploads daily_progress (calories/macros/targets) to Supabase so other members can see progress per sharing level; allergies/targets may be sent to OpenAI for the Assistant (not shared with group members)
Photos or Videos Yes Yes No App Functionality Profile photo; AI food photo analysis (images sent via Supabase proxy to OpenAI Vision)
User ID Yes Yes No App Functionality Sign in with Apple / Supabase auth; Group membership; RevenueCat logIn(supabaseUserId)
Email Address Yes Yes No App Functionality Optional via Sign in with Apple
Name Yes Yes No App Functionality Profile / Sign in with Apple; Group display name / username
Purchase History Yes Yes No App Functionality, Analytics Apple IAP + RevenueCat entitlements / transaction metadata. Per RC App Privacy docs: App Functionality (receipt validation / entitlements) and Analytics (RC dashboard: Customer History, Charts, Experiments)
Other User Content Yes Yes No App Functionality, Product Personalization Recipes, AI prompts/messages, food logs; Group meal assignments, shared recipes, challenges, activity
Product Interaction No — — — OnboardingAnalytics is on-device only (UserDefaults; gated by preference; “future backend”). Not transmitted off-device → do not declare, and do not use Analytics purpose for it
Device ID No — — — No IDFA / ATT / ad-network RC integrations. Identify via custom User ID only. Re-check if you later enable RC integrations that use advertising identifiers

Do not declare microphone / voice data — the app does not request mic access.

When ASC asks which partners process data:

Sharing with other users (policy §5 / Guideline 5.1.1): Groups sharing is user-to-user (other group members), controlled by sharing level. Nutrition progress in daily_progress is Health & Fitness data that is shared with other users when in a Group — declare it under Health & Fitness (linked, not tracking) and keep the hosted Privacy Policy accurate; ASC labels do not replace §5 disclosure. New members default to Summary (FamilySharingLevel.joinDefault); Full requires an explicit choice at invite accept or in sharing settings. Allergies are not shared with group members; they are sent to OpenAI when the Assistant is used.

Manifest note: App PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy omits Product Interaction and lists Purchase History purposes as App Functionality + Analytics (linked). RevenueCat’s own SDK manifest may show Purchase History as unlinked; answer ASC for combined app + SDK behavior (we link purchases to the signed-in user ID).

Age rating questionnaire notes (content descriptors)

Answer the ASC content questionnaire honestly for Caluru’s features (nutrition tracking, optional AI assistant, camera food scan, etc.). Then apply the 16+ override so the store rating matches the live under-16 policy even if content alone would calculate lower.

In-app gate: AgeRequirement.minimumAge == 16 on onboarding Quick Basics (SQuickBasicsView) — Continue stays disabled and shows onboarding_age_under_16_blocked when age < 16.

User-generated content safety (Guideline 1.2)

Groups (invite-only) expose free-text UGC (family name/motto, display names, custom meal titles, shared recipe titles/notes, shopping item names, pokes). Caluru provides:

Control Where
Report Long-press group branding, shared recipes, tonight meals, meal planner slots; Report member on member detail
Block Member detail → Block (hides that user’s UGC + blocks pokes for the reporter)
Review / hide Reports land in Supabase content_reports; admins can hide via hide_family_ugc / hidden_ugc

Also still available: leave group, admin remove member, unshare own content. Review pending reports in the Supabase dashboard within 24 hours.
